How Lloyd Davenport Limited can reduce the impact on the Environment
What’s our policy?
There is the obvious legal responsibility to manage our activities and to reduce the detrimental impact on the environment. It is also the moral responsibility that Lloyd Davenport Ltd have an environmental policy to which we stringently adhere. It contains information and the requirements of our material manufactures and suppliers. The importance of planning work systems to reduce or preferably eliminate any impact on the environment. We monitor and control the waste generated by our trades ensuring it is disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way. How to educate our workforce to be aware of the wildlife, flora and fauna on and around developments, and the part everyone plays in reducing the impact on our environment and how we protect it for future generations.
What have we done?
We installed solar panels on our offices in 2010 to generate electricity and reduce our consumption from the national grid. Our senior management currently drive electric vehicles in order to further reduce our carbon footprint. We have worked closely with the main plasterboard manufacturer to help propose ideas to the major house builders on how we can all work together to reduce waste. We are hoping that these ideas and solutions will be absorbed by the major house builders over the next few years. We have looked to regionalize the developments we work on and limit the distance between them which will reduce the transportation environmental impact. We have supplied all our operatives with drip trays and educated them on disposing of any waste liquid. We discuss the environment as part of our weekly production meetings to identify any issues on our sites or to propose any ideas on how to reduce the environmental impact of our works. We only order material on a per plot basis to avoid excess material on site which can get damaged.
What will we do?
We are looking to purchase our Contracts Managers electric pick ups when the required specification vehicles are available. We continue requesting that the house builder provide a dry flat area to store our material to avoid it getting damaged and wasted. We will be changing over from using polythene board covers to reusable covers made from re-cyclable material. Continually working with the plasterboard manufacturers to discover ways of further reducing waste on site.
